New instrument panel

A new built was necessary

When starting my sim project I designed both sides of the instrument panel as separate parts and built it this way.

Although I managed to support them later on the sides of the structure the connection points to the CenterConsole were too weak.
When transporting it the angle brackets of the right side got bent and since everything was made of particle board it wasn’t really stable at all.

So I redesigned the new instrument panel as one-piece-version and for stability reasons I used a bit thicker plywood.

To make the new piece fit into the given sim structure, I used the old parts to transfer the contour to the basic board.

This got cut out with a bit of overlap, then I positioned the old parts perfectly on it and cut away the overhand with a copying router bit.
Now the new part is 100% the same in size and contour as the old parts and CC together.

Fertig 🙂

I printed a milling template for the MFD holes, the rest was done by hand and the basic structure of the panel was done.

The new one-piece construction allowed me to connect instrument panel and CC with big aluminium brackets which hold everything together really tightly.

Some paint and it looks like a simulator piece

Since the whole part of instrument panel and CC was quite a long lever on the mounting brackets of the CC I put some additional brackets to the nosesectioin to stiffen everything.
Now it’s rock solid and doesn’t move at all anymore.

Glareshields, MFDs and some instruments already mounted.
