Realsimulator ICP Upcycling – Part 2

A small, but effective difference

I didn’t like the backplate that came with the ICP from the beginning.
To make the ICP fit into his HUD block, the previous owner hat to grind away big parts of the top – even the mounting holes got cut in half:

To make things worse I destroyed to screw supports while I opened the ICP and the non-original solution for the Dobberswitch made mounting a real one impossible.

So I started my CAD program again, designed a bit and after some failed test prints the new backplate came off the printbed.

It’s got a big opening to access the toggle switches and to mount a real Dobberswitch.
Secondly another opening, big enough for a 40-pin ribboncable that connects all buttons and switches with the Teensy microcontroller.

So one of the next important steps has been done.
Everything fits perfectly and the mounting holes are (w)hole again 😉

Now I just need something to mount it to… 😉
